Class Calendar: October 6th to October 14th

Monday, October 6th (T)
• Due: Draft of literacy narrative (please bring three copies, as announced in class).
• Class: Peer review of literacy narratives. Model paper, if time permits.

Tuesday, October 7th (W)
• Due: Read closely (maybe even two or three times) all of “Elementary Rules” (p. 1-14) in Elements of Style. Begin revisions to literacy narrative.
• Class: Wrap up discussion of model paper. Begin work on The Elements of Style with peer taught grammar lessons.

Wednesday, October 8th (H)
• Due: Study for vocabulary quiz on Unit #2. Work on revisions to literacy narratives and lessons on The Elements of Style.
• Class: Vocabulary quiz on Unit #2. Mini-lesson on quotation marks. Continue work on grammar lessons.

Thursday, October 9th (F)
• Due: You know what you’re working on. Just know that these deadlines are ridiculously strung out – so don’t get spoiled, we’ll be picking up the pace like maniacs next week to catch up to Mr. McKnight’s class.
• Class: I’ll be out of school today, as will some of you. If you are here, you’ll try out short SAT exercise and have some time to wrap up work on your grammar lessons.

Friday, October 10th (S)
• No class today. This week is a mess!

Monday, October 13th
• No school today. Enjoy the long weekend!

Tuesday, October 14th (U)
• Due: Literacy narrative in hard copy, MLA format, with rough draft, peer feedback, and literacy timelines attached. Remember the difference between revising and editing! Come prepared for presentations on Rules #1-5.
• Class: Lesson on Rules #1-5. Practice exercises and discussion.

Reminder: Mrs. Coleman is running PSAT review sessions this Monday and Tuesday for next week’s exam. It’s not too late to sign up, she says; you can let her know the day of the session.
