• Class: Introduction to literacy narrative assignment; humorous techniques in “Me Talk Pretty One Day.”
Tuesday, September 30th (F)
• Due: Close reading and annotation of Mike Rose.
• Class: Share timelines and conduct “literacy interviews” with colleagues to gather ideas and begin to consider focus for literacy narratives.
Wednesday, October 1st (S)
• Class does not meet today.
Thursday, October 2nd (U)
• Due: Vocabulary exercises for Unit #2.
• Class: Review vocabulary; prepare for panel discussion.
Friday, October 3rd (M)
• Due: Read handout on the writing process from Everyday Use.
• Class: Conduct panel discussion; discuss the writing process.
Monday, October 6th (T)
• Due: Complete draft of literacy narrative. Please bring three copies, as mentioned in class.
• Class: Peer review(s) of literacy narrative drafts.
Reminder: We’ll be starting in on 40 Model Essays and Elements of Style shortly, for those of you who plan to purchase your own copies. Now that you know more about marking up texts, you might consider it again.
