Monday, February 2nd (T)
• Due: Mock rhetoric speech.
• Class: Introduction to the Great American Speech Project; share mock speeches.

Tuesday, February 3rd (W)
• Due: Read the chapter “Inauguration Day” and read and annotate Lincoln’s second inaugural address.
• Class: Figures of Rhetoric II: “How to Intimidate Friends and Impress Parents”; analyze Lincoln speech in small groups.

Wednesday, February 4th (H)
• Due: Read assigned chapter in White book; annotate your selection again using a second color for new information and observations.
• Class: Discuss chapter and report findings to the class; second look at MLK analysis.

Thursday, February 5th (F)
• Due: Submit your full speech project prompt (including text for analysis) for approval; study for vocabulary quiz on Unit #4.
• Class: Vocabulary quiz; practice rhetorical analysis exam.

Friday, February 6th (S)
• Class does not meet.

Monday, February 9th (U)
• Due: Grade sample exam essays; work on speech project.
• Class: Critique and discuss sample exam essays; highlighter exercise; make literature circle selections.

Tuesday, February 10th (M)
• Due: Complete draft of the Great American Speech Project (introduction, complete prompt, essay response, and works cited). Bring three copies for peer review.
• Class: Peer review of speech projects.

Wednesday, February 11th (T)
• Due: Final copy of speech project, neatly formatted (introduction, complete prompt, essay response, and works cited). See blog for sample introductions. Prepare for declamation exercise.
• Class: Declamation exercise; focus on style.
